In alignment with the Government of India’s vision of building 100 Smart Cities, the Foundation strives to develop smart villages in the backward areas of the country. Through this program, we strive to provide comfortable, low maintenance and eco-friendly homes for those in need while providing them with clean, green and hygienic environment. We understand that housing serves as a foundation for stability and well-being and we are committed to ensuring that the poor have long lasting homes within the confines of smart villages. Let’s take you through the Foundation’s Smart Village Project being implemented at Village Patan Purwa, Rajnagar Block, District Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Through this noteworthy project, we have provided a total of 40 comfortable, low maintenance and eco-friendly houses for the poor residents of the village, who were till now staying in poorly built huts. Since the residents had limited resources for incurring future expenses for maintenance and for provision of any gadgets; so the trustees of the Foundation decided to design and build houses with such materials which would keep the homes cooler during summers and warmer during winter; besides providing healthy and maintenance-free stay of the residents.
Based on the above vision, it was decided that the houses would be built with machine-pressed but unbaked bricks and other environmentally friendly materials. Although the in-house made bricks are much more costly than the traditional bricks, but they achieve all the aforesaid objectives. Due to the extra strength of these bricks, the walls need not be plastered or painted; thus saving the residents from the harmful effects of paints and polishes. Thus, these houses are not only structurally resilient, but also require zero maintenance eliminating the need for regular painting, thus, providing a healthy environment.
Besides constructing eco-friendly houses, the Foundation is also carrying out the landscaping of all the village streets abutting the houses; has installed smart LED Street Lights powered by solar energy; and is constructing pathways, drains and green belts. Moreover, since the eco-friendly bricks are being produced at our own plant in the vicinity of the village,
it has helped in generation of employment opportunities at the grass root level.
